OpenOSX(TM), formed in June 2001, is
a company dedicated to serving, and expanding, the Macintosh
community.
Founded on the premise that many computer users are intimidated
by the UNIX commandline, OpenOSX committed
itself to one mission- bringing popular Unix software
to both the "Unix-challenged" and the seasoned,
Mac inclined system administrator in a friendly, Macintosh
environment. Early success in that initial mission has
spawned a second premise, (as well as a far reaching,
secondary mission): The opportunity to introduce the more
traditional Unix community to the new power, and ease
of use of the Macintosh, now available to them in Mac
OS X.
OpenOSX's growing product line reflects
a growing utilization of the BSD layer, which Mac OS X
is built upon. In particular, with the BSD compatibility,
comes the nearly infinite potential to utilize the continuously
expanding universe of software available in the open source
community.
OpenOSX is a creation inspired by Apple's
profound vision and purpose. OpenOSX is to "Software
Applications" as Mac OS X is to "Operating Systems".
We strive to make the most complex "UNIX/Linux"
installations of open source software as simple and easy
as possible: by simply double-clicking a Package icon.
