CD KUDOS
The
GRASS support, research and development headquarters are
as
of Summer 2001 the ITC-irst (Trento, Italy). Originally GRASS
GIS was written by a branch of the US Army Corp of Engineers
(U.S.
Army Construction Engineering Research Laboratories)
as a tool for land management and environmental planning.
Today
Grass use is widespread among educational institutions, commercial
companies and local and national government agencies including:
NASA, NOAA,
USDA, the National
Park Service, the US
Census Bureau, USGS,
and many environmental consulting companies. Grass has
seen
rapid development by its multinational development team
into a powerful utility capable of
data management, spatial modeling, image processing and visualization
of many data types.
